Flamenco Festival London

January 30th, 2005

The first time I saw a live Flamenco show was in September 2003. Sara Baras was performing Mariana Pineda, a show based on the works of Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. The show was so fantastic I’ve been looking forward to repeating the Flamenco experience again.

Last week I went to see Eva Yerbabuena, as part of London’s Flamenco Festival. I’ve seen her before in an Imax movie. Song, dance, guitar and lyrical poetry are unified in a pure and unconcessionary form, maintaining the original rhythms and lines of flamenco in a stunning example of traditional dance.
