Blade Runner

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Once again

I carry a guitar on my shoulder
a mountain of astonishment, ash in my voice.
I have two signed songs,
one is poisoned and the other wants your love.
I keep a nook in my soul
that remembers your face as nobody saw it.
I laugh, cry, don’t care less about anything for the sake of us two.

I live in a garden with no mallows
a hallway with no lounges, your friendship fifth C.
I ask your oblivion to forget me
but it’s well known it won’t concede it.
I walk as always wandering
about some stage and you won’t believe it.
I knew you were lying and everything for the sake of us two.

And once again we’ll be two strangers.
Once again I’ll hurt ourselves.
Once again I’m in the bottom of pain.
And once again, you and me, for the sake of us two.

There’s a corner in my bed
that doesn’t understand anything and asks after you.
There’s a half of myself that complains
and another that doesn’t let me escape from pain.
I’m dreadfully blind
and it won’t be the first time it starts again.
Because you’re not by my side any more for the sake of us two.

And once again we’ll be two strangers.
Once again I’ll hurt ourselves.
Once again I’m in the bottom of pain.
And once again, you and me…

And once again we’ll be two strangers.
Once again I’ll hurt ourselves.
Once again I’m in the bottom of pain.
And once again, you and me, for the sake of us two.

For the sake of us two.

A break in Sigüenza

The last bit of Spain I visited just before moving to London was Sigüenza. This medieval village is famous for its relaxed atmosphere and tasty gastronomy. It also features a gorgeous Parador whose restaurant has magnificient views and arguably serves the best food in town.

Photos of the trip here!

To: England – From: Sweden

April 1654: Queen Christina of Sweden and Oliver Cromwell sign a trade agreement to guarantee cooperation between Sweden and Britain.

April 2004: From Sweden: the cream of Swedish and British musicians playing Swedish and British music in around 30 concerts over 14 months.

It’s the biggest ever festival of Swedish Music in the UK. I am especially interested in the upcoming London Jazz Festival, featuring the best Jazz from Sweden. More details in late September!

Another good source of information for all Swedes visiting or living in London is londonsvenskar.com.

Unfair trading

The Euro is such a benefit for those of us who frequently travel around the continent… I understand some countries have special affection to their past and want to keep their own currency. No problem so far.

What I do not understand is why on Earth some entities insist on making unfair profit from something as simple as currency exchange. This is especially true in England, where my bank’s currency exchange commission is as high as 2.75%. To illustrate this, for every 100€ I send from my bank account in Spain the bank here in the UK keeps almost 3€, not including the fees for receiving an international order (ha!).

I have never seen such astronomical fees anywhere in the continent. My bank in Spain charges nothing for sending Euro transfers to any country in the EU. And 0.2% for currency exchange. Yeah, that’s ten times less than the equivalent in the UK. Amazing.

Basically, some banks here in the UK charge you for breathing.
