Trindade Beerhouse

January 27th, 2004

Trindade Beerhouse opened in 1836. It occupies the place of the former canteen of the Trinos Monks whose convent was established in 1283 and destroyed by the Lisbon earthquake in 1755.

In 1834, the Trindade Brewery was established and two years later the Beerhouse opened to the public. It was decorated with splendid tiles by “Ferreira das Tabuletas” and is the oldest and the most beautiful beerhouse in Portugal.

When Trindade Beerhouse celebrated 150 years, in 1986, the Lisbon Town Hall declared it part of the capital’s cultural heritage. On the same year an Art Gallery was opened which maintains a regular activity.
