Andalusian dinner

Small common prawn omelettes, sprinkled rice, bull’s tail croquettes and sweet made with egg yolk are some of the specialties of Don Paco, an inexpensive andalusian restaurant in downtown Madrid which is believed to have been frequented by the King in the past.

And yes, I tried the bull’s tail croquettes. Once in a life.

The Italian Job

On average, I go to the movies once a week. Yesterday I saw The Italian Job. Although you shouldn’t expect it to be the movie of the year, it is quite amusing actually. I enjoyed the repeated references to AndalucĂa and the continuous jokes about Napster.

Oxford & Bristol

The photos from my recent trip to Oxford and Bristol are now online. Our first night in Oxford we met my brother, Adam and Emma. The city has a fantastic indoor market and an astonishing architecture. Many performances take place in the churches and colleges all around the city, including pieces of Spanish classical music. Bristol has an even nicer covered market. My personal highlights were the cinema (hey! you know me!) and a late mexican dinner.

Surprise bday party

It was Saturday, June 28th. That evening there was some kind of parade in the Madrilian quarter of Chueca, where I was gonna meet Sarah, Claire, Katie, Ana, Teresa, Laura, Luis and Juan. I really couldn’t believe my eyes when I accidentally bumped into Josep and Rafa there.

Initially they told me they had come for the weekend to party, so we went for a coffee and started planning the night :) Sarah, Claire and Katie had already booked a table in a restaurant so, contrary to my will, I left the visiting kotbullars and we headed to the place where we were gonna eat dinner. I would have never imagined I was gonna have one of the best bday parties ever. In fact, everything was planned from the beginning.

There were almost thirty friends there, from school, university, Stockholm and work: Tito, Rafa, Luis, Teresa, Mieko, Matt, Nayoung, Carmen, Tomoko, Amparo, Rosendo, Gema, Claire, Albano, Ana, Josep, Tito, Ana, Katie, Cris, Fer, Javi, Oscar, Ximo, Angel, Sarah, Juan, Maite and me!

After all, we obviously needed some meditation and a nice walk through El Retiro. A million thanks to those friends coming from Barcelona and Sevilla.
