A letter from Sweden…
November 30th, 2002

| I got a letter from The Royal Institute of Technology this morning. I’m now a member of KTH Alumni, a network of former KTH students. In general, Spanish University works much worse than Universities in Europe. The proof is that after finishing my Spanish Degree, it’ll take three years to get the official Diploma. Not to mention there’s no official Alumni Network here in Spain. | ![]() |

And how much are you paying a year?

I guess that this depends much on the school that you come from. In my school in Barcelona we have an association, but it has been recently created, so there’s not many thousands of associates yet.
Anyway, one general fact is true beyond any reasonable doubt: Spanish univerities work much worse than many universities in the rest of Europe.
And there doesn’t seem to be any effort of any kind to mend it.
Ave Caesar, moritori te salutant.

Membership is free of charge during the first year. I’m going to see how it works and continue subscription next year if I like it.

I am a member of the Ex-alumni from the UPV (Valencia) and after a short period on an English University I wouldn’t say Spanish Universities are much worse..

Probably both the UPV and the UPC work better than my Uni. However, my impression is that European universities are more efficient in terms of bureaucratic processes and paperwork in general. My complaints are thus pointed to public administration, not the quality of tuition.

I was precisely referring to public administration because i also think some European universities are much better in terms of tutition due to the simple reason they have much less people to lecture. By the way, ;P as you said somewhere else Christmas are coming, any kottbullar plan?

I spoke with rafawan about a possible meeting sometime ago but we didn’t fix anything definite. We’ll have to submit the proposal to the Kotbullars Parliament for approval.

I also had that conversation, Rafa! Are you there?
OK! Let’s ask the Assembly of old wise kottbullars
